Bonenbergers Host Rook Picnic
There were many smiles and much laughter when Board Vice Chairman Bill Bonenberger 7W9 and his wife Janet hosted a picnic for the 11 Rooks at their North Wales home recently. Good food, fun games, much interaction, and an inspirational talk were also part of the day. The picnic has become a Rook program tradition and, in addition to the students and the Bonenbergers, included many Williamson employees and their spouses and children. Games included basketball, swimming, horseshoes, and tossing around a football, among others.
An important part of the day was an inspirational talk by Bill Bonenberger in which he told the Rooks that completing the program required hard work and now, as Williamson students, they face more hard work to achieve their goal of graduation. He then gave each Rook several blue bracelets — one for themselves for inspiration and two to give to someone who is close to them who will help encourage them on their Williamson journey.
The Rook program is a six-week program in which a number of students receive extra course work in mathematics and English before beginning their three years as Williamson students.
