In the January 2014 issue of Main Line Today magazine, on newsstands now, is a cover article by author Mark Dixon on the Victorian era architect Frank Furness, who designed many of Williamson’s signature buildings, including the Main Building and several of the student residences. Williamson Free School has 11 Furness buildings, the largest collection of Furness buildings anywhere, and is prominently featured in the article with two full pages of color photos of campus buildings. KC Cassell, vice president of institutional advancement, is quoted in the article saying “The school trains students for the building trades and uses the structures as hands-on classrooms. We’re teaching basic, good skills. The craft of repair and architectural integrity comes in the details.” Dixon points out that the Furness buildings have been meticulously maintained at an award-winning level.
