Alumni Day 2014 Closes Year-long 125th Celebration
A beautiful blue sky and perfect temperature helped make Alumni Day 2014 extra special as the 125th anniversary celebration came to a close on Saturday.
The day kicked off with the invitation-only President’s Breakfast in the Sabia Garden. Among the special guests were members of the Class of 6W4 celebrating their 50th reunion.

After breakfast, guests enjoyed such activities as the 1st Annual Antique Car Show (pictures can be found on Facebook here) with 15 cars, a 125th Scavenger Hunt, with all contestants receiving a tape measure with Williamson’s logo, and the Family Fun Zone, which included a free moonbounce, pony rides, popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy. The free food was provided and served by Richard Rothe, husband of Donna Rothe, business office assistant. A sand sculpting demonstration was presented by horticulture instructor Chuck Feld, who made a birthday cake in honor of Williamson’s 125th anniversary.
There was an Alumni Chapel Service and President Rounds gave a State of the School Address before everyone enjoyed lunch in the dining room.
The afternoon included an Alumni Association meeting and an Afternoon Garden Party hosted by First Lady Mary Nell Rounds on the lawn in front of the President’s house. It featured the music of the De La Salle String Band Orchestra. There also was a surprise visit by Isaiah V. Williamson, as portrayed by Russ Harvey 5W0, and the Ladies Auxiliary raffled off two Adirondak Chairs and table, made by carpentry students, and a 125th quilt, handmade by Joyce Starr, wife of Stacy Starr 6W8, Alumni Association 2nd VP.
Guests also enjoyed the School Store, the Advancement Office and Alumni Association booths, and open houses of all shops and dorms.
The wonderful weather added to the good time had by everyone.
