Williamson Group Aids El Salvador Poor
A group of Williamson students, staff, and alumni traveled to El Salvador to provide aid to the poverty stricken country for the second year in a row, this spring. Among the things they did were: laying block for a computer lab, building a retaining wall for a house, renovating a child care center with the installation of a large window, and running games and programs for children, which included serving lunch and providing them with many smiles.
The group visited an orphanage, which was the highlight of the young children there for their week, and provided their own money to buy medical supplies for a dying young man to ease his suffering.
Mark Specht 7W7, group coordinator, said it was a very successful trip and provided the students with a “life-changing experience while they helped those in need.”
The trip was so moving that Chris Goodman 0W4 returned a few weeks later with his wife Melissa so she could share the experience.
Members of the group were: Staff/Alumni – Rev. Mark Specht 7W7, Chris Goodman 0W4, Matt Geary 1W3, Jesse Anderson, student ministry leader; Seniors – Curtis Chambers, Korry Cowher, Mike Fenstermacher, Nick Fredericks, Rich Kurcharski, Keith McCarthy, Zach McCrea, John Nguyen, Al Pigford, Dustin Snell, Daulton Weit; Juniors – Dan Deaver, Chris Devinney, Vince DePrince, Rich Horan, Mike Komieczny, Joe Portz, Dylan Weston
