Wing Bowl XV Attracts Large Crowd
A very large audience of students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends watched five shop skits poking good-natured fun at life at Williamson followed by a contest to see who could eat the most wings in eight minutes at Wing Bowl XV in the Restall Sports Center Thursday evening.
The wing-eating champion is Isaiah Toltoan 1W7, paint and coatings technology, who ate 33. Second place was taken by Alfred Kurts 1W7, power plant technology, who ate 29, and third place went to Kevin Costigan 1W6, power plant technology, who ate 26. Along with a trophy for each, Toltoan received $150, Kurts, $100, and Costigan, $50.
The other students participating were: Travis Brock 1W5, 19; Mitchell Carl 1W5, 10; Mister Carter 1W7, 18; David Clapp 1W6, 23; Sean Loftus 1W6, 15; Vinny Maturo 1W6, 14; Bob Millison, 22; Mason Mitchell 1W7, 23; Richard Smith 1W5, 13; Ian Steveline 1W7, 14; Jack Varnis 1W5, 25.
Paint Shop’s skit took first place and a $500 prize, second place went to Machine Shop with $200, and third went to Power Plant with $100.
The evening was hosted by Tim Burbage, director of food services. A surprise visit by Santa Claus (Chuck Feld, hort instructor), provided the audience with some candy canes. Burbage and his group of alumni “The Monday Night Club,” created the Wing Bowl and fund it each year. Assisting during the event were members of the Wing Night Team, a dedicated group of students, staff, and friends, who help at each Thursday evening’s Wing Night.
