The 120th Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, May 30, at the Best Western Plus Concordville Hotel in Concordville with Alumni Association president Robert Abbot 8W1 acting as master of ceremonies.
The evening began with a reception and dinner, and then Fred Espenship and Dick Dunlap, the Class of 6W5’s fund-raising committee members, presented their class’ 50th anniversary gift, a large facsimile check for $81,000, to Gregory Lindemuth, Williamson’s executive vice president and COO.
Next, Wayne Watson 4W8, board chairman, presented the C.W. Schrenk 4W9 Young Alumnus Award to Kevin Hatch 0W8 and the Isaiah V. Williamson Award to Trustee Richard Clemens.
Abbot then introduced the Distinguished Alumnus Award and Russell Harvey 5W0 presented one to Shawn Loper 0W0, and Ron Richardson 5W4 presented one to Bruce Burrell 5W4.
Richard Phillips 4W8, Alumnus of the Year Award Committee chairman, introduced the Alumnus of the Year Award, and Edward Hatchigian 6W0 presented the award to Eugene “Gino” Maffei 5W3, who accepted his award accompanied by his wife Dorothy, and sons Donilo and Cristo.
Ron Rinker 8W5, Nominating Committee chairman, then announced next year’s Association officers: Stacy Starr 6W8, president; Bill Goodworth 8W2, 1st VP; James Simpson 1W2, 2nd VP; Phil Lock 6W9, treasurer; Ed Hatchigian 6W0, corresponding secretary; and John Brown 8W5, financial secretary.
Then, Abbot, outgoing Association president, passed the presidential gavel to incoming president Starr. The evening closed with Russ Harvey and the Class of 6W5 leading everyone in singing the alma mater.
