Alumni Day 2015 Enjoyed by Many
Alumni Day ’15 kicked off with the invitation-only President’s Breakfast in the Sabia Garden. Among the special guests were members of the Class of 6W5 celebrating their 50th reunion. Starting a new tradition, the class marched to their seats from the President’s house to start the morning.
After breakfast, guests enjoyed such activities as the 2nd Annual Classic Car Show with over 20 cars and the Family Fun Zone, which included pony rides. Popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy were provided free by Richard Rothe, husband of Donna Rothe, business office assistant, and water ice was supplied by Tyler’s Water Ice. A sand sculpting demonstration was presented by horticulture instructor Chuck Feld, who sculpted the Main Building.
There was an Alumni Chapel Service and President Rounds gave a State of the School Address before everyone enjoyed lunch in the dining room.
The afternoon included an Alumni Association meeting and music by the De La Salle String Band Orchestra playing at the Pavilion. The Ladies Auxiliary raffled off two Adirondak Chairs and table, made by carpentry students, and a quilt.
Throughout the day, guests toured the Power Plant to see the progress of the Energy Island Project and a historical display in the Shrigley Library.
Guests also visited the School Store and the Welcome Tent, housing the Advancement Office and Alumni Association booths.
