Toll Brothers CEO Speaks at 122nd Commencement
The Class of 1W5 was sent into the world as “Williamson Men” with words of encouragement and advice from Douglas Yearly Jr., CEO of Toll Brothers, the fourth largest builders of luxury homes in the country.

Yearly told the graduating seniors that they are being sent into the world as Williamson men. “With that comes a great sense of pride and honor and a level of technical expertise in your chosen trade that is unparalleled among your fellow tradesmen.”
He added that the school’s five core values, faith, integrity, diligence, excellence, and service, will guide them through difficult times and provide a foundation on which to build their lives.
Commencement opened with an invocation by Rev. Daniel Norton, a member of the Class of 6W5 who were there celebrating their 50th anniversary. The class started a new tradition of marching in the processional wearing gold robes.
In his address, class president Matthew Roy, holding up a copy of the Student Handbook, said while the rules may no loner apply, the standards will always remain.
After accepting the senior class gavel, Jared Pendleton, president of the Class of 1W6, said “You left your mark on Williamson. What is next? The world.”
President Michael Rounds told the seniors that the first time he saw their class motto, “Lead from the front,” he knew it was going to be a great year.
He also read a proclamation honoring the late V. Gerald Wright for his 34 years as a trustee and announced that the Class of 1W5 was contributing toward the construction of the new student lounge in the lower level of the Main Building as their class gift.
Next, Thomas Wisneski, vice president of education, presented student awards, followed by the conferring of diplomas and degrees by Rounds, with assistance from Wayne Watson 4W8, board chairman; Wisneski; Anne Hayes, registrar; and Robert Abbot 8W1, Alumni Association president.
Russ Harvey 5W0 lead the group in the singing of the alma mater and Mark Specht 7W7, chaplain, gave the benediction.
At the close of the ceremony, following a new tradition only in its second year, each graduate walked to the Commencement Bell, a large brass bell near the flag pole, and rang it one time, with Tim Burbage, class adviser, standing nearby, signifying he is now an alumnus.
The ceremony concluded with many hugs and handshakes of congratulations and refreshments on the lawn.
