
Storm 6W2 Recognized as Distinguished Honoree on Philanthropy Day
Trustee Richard F. Storm 6W2 was recognized as a Distinguished Honoree at the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Greater Philadelphia Chapter’s annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Gala Luncheon at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia recently.
Storm was recognized for his commitment to helping Williamson meet its mission, serving as an inspiration to all who meet him, and his success as a business owner in the power industry.
In addition to offering financial support to Williamson and hiring many graduates to work for his company, he has been instrumental in making the long-held dream of an Energy Island become a reality. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2001 and has served on the Power Plant Advisory and Steering Committees.
Storm, using his lifelong energy experience, founded Storm Technologies, Inc., in Albemarle, NC, in 1992, serving as president. His company specializes in serving large electric utilities and heavy industry. He now serves as the company’s senior consultant, turning over much of his former duties to his son, Danny.
He also is a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Albemarle, where has served on several committees and as a Sunday school teacher. He is a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, is a board member of the Stanly County YMCA, and a member of the Albemarle Chamber of Commerce.
