121st Alumni Banquet Held

The 121st Alumni Banquet was held Saturday, June 4, at the Porch Restaurant at the Lamb Tavern in Springfield with Alumni Association president Stacy Starr 6W8 acting as master of ceremonies.

The evening began with a reception and dinner, and then David Andrew, chairman of the Class of 6W6’s fundraising committee, with his classmates standing behind him, presented their class’ 50th anniversary gift, a large facsimile of a check for $55,000, to President Michael Rounds.

Next, Starr announced that an Alumni Association Honorary Membership was being presented to Trustee Richard Clemens for his years of service to Williamson. Clemens was unable to attend the banquet.

Next, William Bonenberger 7W9, board vice chairman, filling in for Board Chairman Wayne Watson 4W8, who was unable to attend, presented the C.W. Schrenk 4W9 Young Alumnus Award to Richard Sands 0W7 and the Isaiah V. Williamson Award to Russell and Betty Harvey 5W0.

Robert Abbot 8W1 then introduced the Distinguished Alumnus Award and Trustee Richard Storm 6W2 presented one to Richard Daubenspeck 9W1, and Edward Hatchigian 6W0 presented one to John Rex 7W5.

Hatchigian then introduced the Alumnus of the Year Award, and Storm presented the award to William Bonenberger.

Ron Rinker 8W5, Nominating Committee chairman, then announced next year’s Association officers: Bill Goodworth 8W2, president; James Simpson 1W2, 1st VP; Daniel Flood 8W1, 2nd VP; Phil Lock 6W9, treasurer; Ed Hatchigian 6W0, corresponding secretary; and John Brown 8W5, financial secretary.

Starr then passed the presidential gavel to incoming president Goodworth followed by the awarding of door prizes. The evening closed with Russ Harvey and the Class of 6W6 leading everyone in singing the alma mater.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
