Alumni Day 2016 Was Enjoyed by Many
Alumni Day ’16, on June 4, kicked off with the invitation-only President’s Breakfast in the Sabia Garden. Guests of honor were members of the Class of 6W6 celebrating their 50th reunion, who marched to their seats from the President’s house to start the morning.
Opening words were given by Mary Nell Rounds and President Rounds. Arlene Snyder, vice president for institutional advancement, then spoke on the importance of joining the Wanamaker Society, a way of supporting Williamson through wills and other planned gifts. President Rounds, and trustees Williamson Bonenberger 7W9, Richard Lighty, and Richard Storm 6W2, then presented a Wanamaker pin to 12 audience members who had joined the Wanamaker Society; the pins are a new way of Wanamaker Society members to be recognized for their special support of Williamson.

After breakfast, the Class of 6W6 marched to the Commencement Bell and each rang it one time, a fairly new 50th reunion tradition.
After breakfast, guests enjoyed such activities as the 3rd Annual Classic Car Show and the Family Fun Zone, which included sand art and a moonbounce. Popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy were provided free by Richard Rothe. A sand sculpting demonstration was presented by horticulture instructor Chuck Feld, who sculpted the new Watson Dorm.
There was an Alumni Chapel Service and President Rounds gave a State of the College address before everyone enjoyed lunch in the dining room. The afternoon included an Alumni Association meeting and music by the De La Salle String Band Orchestra playing at the Pavilion.
Throughout the day, guests enjoyed a historical display in the Shrigley Library, shopping in the College Store and at the Ladies Auxiliary craft sale, and touring the shops.
The day concluded with the lowering of the flag, assisted by veterans of the Class of 6W6.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
