Palmer 1W6 Wins Silver at SkillsUSA Nationals
Congratulations to the three students who represented Williamson at the SkillsUSA national competition — Cody Palmer 1W6, Dave Byers 1W6, and Ian Steveline 1W7.
Cody, construction technology-masonry, took a silver medal in the masonry competition; Ian, construction technology-carpentry, came in 10th in the carpentry competition; and Dave, machine tool technology, came in 18th in the CNC technician competition.
Attending with the students were John Curran 0W5, paint shop instructor and SkillsUSA adviser, and Dan Hiltebeitel, recently retired director of construction technology-masonry and longtime SkillsUSA adviser.
Hiltebeitel said, “Our students represented Williamson very well with their skill and in the way they conducted themselves. Everyone who came into contact with them knew they were special and were impressed. They demonstrated to all what a great program Williamson College has.”
Curran said, “This was Dan’s last SkillsUSA national competition as Williamson’s adviser and as I take over the program, he is leaving me with very, very large shoes to fill. I am going to have to work very hard to accomplish as much as he did, but I feel up to the challenge. I’m looking forward to taking the program he established long into the future.”
