The Passing of Board Chairman Wayne C. Watson 4W8
We regret to inform the Williamson community of the passing shortly before midnight last night of our cherished friend, colleague, and longtime leader of the Board of Trustees — Wayne C. Watson 4W8 after battling illness for several months.
President Michael Rounds said, “It is with great sadness that I must announce the passing of our cherished friend, colleague, and Chairman of our Board of Trustees — Wayne Watson. Last night, Wayne succumbed to an illness that he had been battling the last several months. His passing is a great loss to Williamson College of the Trades. He dedicated his life to the betterment of Williamson. In his 45 years of leadership on the Board of Trustees, the last 33 as Chairman, he helped steer the school through challenging times. Due to his great leadership, Williamson is stronger and sounder than it has ever been and heading to even bigger and better things. All of us who love and cherish Williamson College of the Trades owe a great debt of gratitude to Wayne. He was a great friend and mentor to me personally. We can never thank and honor him enough for the tremendous impact he had on his beloved Williamson. We will miss him greatly and will honor the great legacy that he is leaving behind.”
Board Vice Chairman William Bonenberger 7W9 said, “The entire Williamson family is saddened by the news of Chairman Watson’s passing. He was an amazing man who dedicated nearly five decades of his life to serving Williamson. All of us who had the opportunity to work alongside him are better people for it. He loved our students and interacted with them on a daily basis. Their education and well being was his primary concern. Though he had many interests, the things that were most important to Wayne were his faith, his family, and Williamson. He has left a legacy that will never be forgotten. On behalf of all the Trustees, we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know him and work with him.”
