Jonathan Kagle 1W0, owner/operator of Kagle’s Gardens, a specialty gardening and landscaping company in Aston, Pa., received Williamson’s board of trustees’ Clarence W. Schrenk 4W9 Young Alumnus Award during the Founder’s Day celebration on Feb. 8 in the Clara Schrenk Memorial Chapel.
The award is presented to an alumnus who graduated within the last 15 years and who has distinguished himself by making substantial contributions to his profession and to society at an early stage in his life.
Kagle, who became interested in landscaping and business at a young age, studied horticulture at Williamson. He is glad he attended Williamson because he learned a trade, benefited from the structure, and established many connections and friendships.
After graduating, he became a gardener at Cabrini College and then at the Episcopal Academy. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Neumann University and an MBA at the Fox School of Business at Temple University, attending evening school. He also earned an Industrial Systems Technician’s certificate at Delaware County Community College.
He went into biomedical manufacturing as a production chemist, and in 2021, became the owner/operator of Kagle’s Gardens. In 2023, his company was named “Best Landscaper/Gardener” by Main Line Parents magazine. Kagle’s Gardens frequently supports local charities and last spring was a sponsor of the WAA Alumni Golf Outing.
He has been an active alumnus for many years, serving as an alumni leader, chair of the Young Alumni Advisory Council, and as a member of the Williamson Association of Alumni Leadership Council.
A dedicated alumni mentor, he attends many student events at Williamson to support students on their 1,000-day journey. He also shares his business knowledge with other alumni entrepreneurs and makes meaningful and lasting connections with students and encourages them to reach out to him for help.
