Williamson had one of its best showings ever at the recent SkillsUSA state competitions in Hershey, PA, with seven students competing and seven winning medals.
Winning gold were: Michael Beyers 2W4 – Carpentry competition; Joshua Kirkpatrick 2W4- Cabinetry competition; Creed Norris 2W4, Evan Worner 2W4, and William Brisbane 2W5, Automated Manufacturing Technology competition; and Griffin Moeller 2W5, Electrical competition. Derek Brunetto 2W4, Masonry competition, won silver.
Peter Zwolak 0W7, director of construction technology – masonry, said “Our guys did great and showed everyone the high skill level of Williamson students. I am extremely proud of how the guys represented themselves and Williamson. Our students are heavy weight fighters, giving their all in these competitions and the results show it. I am especially pleased that Giffin did so well in his competition. It was his first time competing and he did amazingly well. His competition was very tough and he earned his gold medal.”
All of the gold medal winners will compete at the SkillsUSA national competition from June 24-28 in Atlanta, GA, representing the state of Pennsylvania.
