The 50th Annual George Patton 6W6 Alumni Golf Outing hosted 144 golfers on Monday, June 3 at the Paxon Hollow Country Club, Media, PA.
The outing, which was established 50 years ago by George Patton 6W6 and is now hosted by the Williamson Association of Alumni (WAA), welcomed alumni from the classes 6W1 to 2W4 – all playing in support of student scholarships. The event was supported by a number of generous sponsors including Presenting Sponsor PJ Dick, Hole in One Sponsor Eddie Kane Steel Products (Gus Kane 8W7), and Giveaway Sponsor Tri-M.
In addition to a great round of golf, the day featured a variety of activities including drawings for Williamson-branded items, a silent auction of popular Philly sports team items, and a hole-in-one contest and putting contest – each with a $10,000 prize up for grabs.
According to WAA Alumni Events Committee Chairman Kevin Welde 9W7, “It was an honor to pay tribute to George Patton 6W6 and the rich tradition he and his classmates started 50 years ago. Having alumni like Dave Miller 6W1, who has attended every outing since its inception, playing again this year speaks volumes about the value our alumni put on staying connected and active with Williamson. I look forward to preparing for the outing next year to ensure we continue to carry the torch for another 50 years. Many thanks to our sponsors and volunteers; without them, we could not deliver this amazing experience. We appreciate their continued support.”
WAA President, Chris Moran 9W9 noted, “The golf outing continues to be a huge success – bringing together alumni of all ages in support of the Williamson mission. All proceeds from the event go to fund the Williamson Association of Alumni Scholarship – a full annual scholarship for one Williamson student. As an alumnus, I am truly grateful to be part of such an awesome event and proud to have a direct impact on Williamson and it’s students through a dedicated scholarship.”
At the conclusion of the outing, several golfers and foursomes walked away with top prizes including:
- 1st place: Mike Van Horn 8W8, Ray Peyefrerry, Ed Barnard, Bill Swahl
- 2nd place: Jay Ogilvie 0W1, Bill West 9W7, Scott Lean, Mike Henderson
- 3rd place: Pat West 1W1, John Van Schaick 1W1, Mike Lynch 1W1, Steve Sinex 1W1
- “Most Honest” Foursome: Dave Miller 6W1, Lou Pitonyak 6W1, John Miller and Charles Kristman.
Closest to the pin winners included Pat Gallagher 9W3, Buck Harper 0W8, Justin Murphy 2W3, Justin Minch 2W4, Mark Meighan 0W5, and Pat West 1W1; longest drive winners included Lee Furlong 0W3 and Danell Roberson 1W5.
