Williamson did extremely well at the recent SkillsUSA state competitions in Hershey, PA, with eight students competing and eight winning medals.
Winning gold were: William Brisbane, MJ Branca, and Alex Rivera, all Machine Tool Technology seniors competing in Automated Manufacturing Technology; Roger Walters, a Construction Technology – Electrical junior competing in Residential Wiring; and Issac Perkins, a Machine Tool Technology freshman competing in Precision Machining. Winning silver were: Jack Wooten, a Construction Technology – Carpentry senior competing in Carpentry; Joshua Illing, a Construction Technology – Masonry senior competing in Masonry; and Clinton Bertollo, a Power Plant Technology freshman competing in Sheet Metal.
Peter Zwolak 0W7, director of construction technology – masonry, said “Our students did extremely well. Eight went and all eight placed. SkillsUSA states is a gathering of the best students from postsecondary schools in the trades from across the state. Our students represented Williamson very well and showed that we are an exceptional school at which to learn the trades. Our students worked hard and showed that they know what they are doing.”
All of the gold medal winners will compete at the SkillsUSA national competition from June 23-27 in Atlanta, GA, representing the state of Pennsylvania.
