Ernie Pighini, retired Executive Vice President and Controller of Connectivity and Platforms at Comcast, has joined Williamson’s board of trustees, announced Board Chairman Tom Goeke 8W0.
“Ernie’s extraordinary career reflects the kind of leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence that define Williamson,” said Goeke. “He has managed complex global financial operations, guided organizations through periods of tremendous growth, and remained deeply committed to serving his community. His business acumen, strategic perspective, and dedication to developing future leaders will make him an outstanding addition to our board of trustees.”
Pighini recently retired after a distinguished 35-year career from Comcast. Throughout his tenure, he played a key role in the company’s financial leadership and operational growth, helping guide Comcast through a period of remarkable expansion and transformation.
A 1986 graduate of Drexel University, Pighini earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. While at Drexel, he participated in the University’s cooperative education program. This unique opportunity offers students the chance to gain practical work experience in a business setting prior to graduation, a tremendously valuable asset to students and organizations alike.
Following graduation, Pighini joined the Philadelphia office of KPMG, where he spent six years advancing from Staff Auditor to Manager. He led audit and assurance engagements for several major commercial and educational clients, including Armstrong World Industries, American Olean Tile, International Utilities, Rollins Freight and Trucking Corporation, and Temple University.
In 1992, Pighini joined Comcast when the company served approximately three million cable customers. Over the next three decades, Comcast evolved into a global media and technology company providing broadband, wireless, video, entertainment, and business services to more than 30 million customers while generating annual revenues of approximately $80 billion.
Most recently, Pighini served as Executive Vice President and Controller of Connectivity and Platforms, leading a global team of approximately 1,500 employees. In that role, he oversaw the company’s financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, billing operations, cash management, payroll, accounts payable, credit and collections, and other critical financial functions.
Throughout his career, Pighini led the financial integration of several major acquisitions, including AT&T Broadband, Time Warner Cable, Adelphia Cable, and Sky Entertainment, one of Europe’s leading media and telecommunications companies. He also directed the implementation of major enterprise technology platforms, including Oracle, Workday, and Ascendon, helping modernize Comcast’s financial and human resources operations.
“I’ve always admired Williamson’s commitment to combining technical education with character development,” said Pighini. “The College has a remarkable history of preparing young men to become skilled professionals and principled leaders. I’m honored to join the board of trustees and look forward to supporting Williamson’s mission and helping ensure its continued success for generations to come.”
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Pighini has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community service. He previously served as chair of the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region and as a member of the board of trustees for Ancillae Assumpta Academy in Montgomery County. He also volunteered as a Big Brother in Comcast’s John Alchin Beyond School Walls Program and coached numerous youth basketball teams.
Pighini resides in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Joan. They have three children and two grandchilden, all of whom live in the Philadelphia area.
