The 2026 Ron Richardson 5W4 Shady Maple Alumni Luncheon on Tuesday, October 13, gathered Williamson alumni, spouses, college staff, and the late Richardson’s family – including wife Alke and sons Craig and Ken – for an afternoon of fellowship, reflection, and news from the college. One of the strongest alumni turnouts we have seen, the sold-out event welcomed alumni from 20 different classes spanning 45 years. Thanks to everyone who joined us for this special afternoon of fellowship!

Following a blessing from the Rev. Dr. Mark Specht 7W7 and a delicious buffet lunch, Chris Moran, president of the Williamson Association of Alumni (WAA) shared an overview of the WAA’s various committees and their initiatives, as well as some big recent wins, including an expanded June Golf Classic that continues to quickly sell out and which raised $50,000 for student scholarships. Director of Alumni Relations Rhoda O’Donnell expressed her efforts to bring together Williamson alumni with today’s students in way that honors “skills and schedules” to maximize impact.

President Michael J. Rounds acknowledged the growth of the Shady Maple gathering, its longtime leadership by Richardson and, following his passing in 2024, by Dick Dunlap 6W5. President Rounds highlighted the school’s growth, with 2026-2027 having the largest student enrollment to date with 340; and the role the biannual Career Fairs play in both raising revenue for the school and helping students secure summer internships and full-time jobs. “The opportunities are off the charts. These companies say they will hire students from any program because they are Williamson Men.”

The afternoon concluded with singing of the alma mater, “Williamson, Our Williamson”.
